Connecticut boasts a very healthy, very exciting craft-beer industry, and here in Stamford we’re lucky to claim some of it for our very own.
A prime example? Half Full Brewery. If you’re at all inclined toward the hoppy and the sudsy side of things, we strongly encourage you to check Half Full out during your next stay with us here at Hotel Zero Degrees Stamford. Given the brewery’s only about a mile from our boutique hotel, we make the perfect springboard for paying it a thirsty visit.
Where Beer Lovers Go in Stamford
Wherever your palate lies on the beer spectrum, you’ll find a brew to tantalize your taste buds and enliven your spirits at Half Full. (And let’s get this out of the way off the bat: The name refers to the optimistic and aspirational outlook on life. The taster flights and pints at Half Full are poured to the brim.)
The brewery’s year-round stable of, well, staple beers carve out a nice chunk of that spectrum. You’ve got the refreshing, easy-drinking Bright, a hybrid between a Blonde and a Pale Ale; the always-evolving Refresh Pale Ale; the West Coast-style IPA called Pursuit; and Liquid Hoptimism, a Double IPA you can almost sink your teeth into.
Half Full also partners with other Stamford-area businesses and purveyors with its Community Sourced Ales (CSA) series. The collaborative brew for December is Rise & Shine, a Cold Brew Coffee Porter created with Stamford’s Rise Nitro Cold Brew Coffee. Come January, the CSA spotlight shifts to Grace & Darkness, an Oyster Stout brewed with Norwalk’s Copps Island Oysters.
And then there are the Limited Releases, which this month takes the form of a Belgian-style IPA called Celebrate Everything and next month will be Sensible Decision, an India Pale Lager.
The Half Full Tasting Room
The Half Full Brewery Tasting Room pours a dozen beers representing all of the above series as well as some Tasting Room Exclusives. You can swing by for a tasting flight or a pint from 4 to 9 PM Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 9 PM on Saturdays, and noon to 5 PM on Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays, local food trucks station at Half Full so you’ve got some edible nourishment to go along with the liquid kind.
At 2 and 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday, free brewery tours give you a behind-the-scenes look at Half Full operations.
“Together We Can” at Half Full Brewery
Half Full’s collaborative beer series isn’t the only manifestation of the brewery’s commitment to community engagement. On “Together We Can” days once a month, you can meet at the brewery and then go volunteer at a local organization, rounding off your day of service with—what else?—a celebratory beer.
