The 10th Annual New England Chowdafest
This rain-or-shine tribute to that quintessential regional dish of clam chowder will take place October 1 from 11 AM to 3 PM at Sherwood Island State Park, and here at Hotel Zero Degrees—just a few miles away—we’re the event’s official lodging partner.

Survey the Chowder Galaxy at Chowdafest
Naturally chowder, plus related soups and bisques, takes center stage at the 2017 New England Chowdafest. You’ll get to sample dozens of different varieties and rate them across five categories: New England Clam, Traditional Clam (encompassing Manhattan- and Rhode Island-style chowders), Creative Chowders, Vegetable Chowders (making its debut this year), and Soup/Bisque.
Exploring regional styles and outside-the-box variations makes for its own unique safari through one classic branch of New England cuisine—and gives you plenty of opportunities to play around with your own “chowda” pronunciation, to boot.
Beyond Chowder
The gastronomic possibilities at Chowdafest, though, extend well beyond the namesake stew: You’ll find equally delicious and more globe-spanning delights in the “Ciao!”dafest (Italian, obviously) and ChowdaMex sections. Ice cream and other treats round out the offerings—plus a wide array of non-alcoholic beverages.
This is a family-friendly affair, no question: The younger crowd votes alongside everyone else, wears self-decorated chef hats, and engage in all manner of other kid-focused activities.
