Not long ago here at the Hotel Zero Degrees blog we profiled some of the great fall festivals the Stamford Museum & Nature Center hosts this time of year. And pretty fresh on the heels of this beloved family-friendly institution’s Oktoberfest and Harvest Festival Weekend, we’ve got another seasonal soiree to preview: the 10th annual Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff and Touch-a-Truck event!
This delightful and delicious fundraiser goes to support the nature center as well as the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, so you’re helping out a good cause as you’re enjoying the fresh air, the good company, and the toothsome dishes on offer.
The chili-fied fun takes place Sunday, November 5 from 11 AM to 3 PM. Given you’ll be just about a 15-minute drive from the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, there’s no better headquarters for taking part in the action than Hotel Zero Degrees—so book your boutique guestroom today!
Chili, Trucks, and Family-Friendly Fall Fun
There’s nothing quite so tasty on a crisp early November day than a bowlful of chili, and needless to say there’ll be plenty of that hearty stuff being ladled out during the proceedings. Stamford Museum & Nature Center members get in free, while non-members are welcome with a donation of $10 or a bag of non-perishable foodstuffs.
The Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff coincides with another mighty fun occasion: Touch-a-Truck. There’s not much mystery in that name: This is a chance to get up-close and hands-on with some big and bold vehicles. The little ones—and the big ones, too, really—will delight in learning the ins-and-outs of these hefty trucks, getting the lowdown on their function and the opportunity to climb up inside and sit behind the wheel.
The Stamford Museum & Science Center
The Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff and Touch-a-Truck event make for festive fall fun and some important fundraising for two well-deserving institutions. It’s also a great opportunity to more generally explore the educational delights of the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, which encompasses both outdoor and indoor attractions. Wander the nature trails, touch base with the four-legged denizens of the Heckscher Farm, and explore the museum exhibits in the Henri Bendel Mansion, which tackle a wide swath of natural and human history.
So make your reservations at Hotel Zero Degrees Stamford for November 5, and take a pleasant jaunt north to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center for the 10th annual Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff and Touch-a-Truck—all-ages fun, to say the least!
